Delete Your Account

kokuko is the household management app for shared living. It helps circles of people — housemates, families, or any co-living group — coordinate chores, track contributions, and split expenses fairly. Your account holds your profile, circles, tasks, expenses, and shared items.

This page explains how to delete your account directly in the kokuko app, what data is removed, and what (if anything) is retained.

How to Delete Your Account

Account deletion is available directly inside the kokuko app. You do not need to contact support — follow the steps below.

1
Open the kokuko app and sign in

Launch the kokuko app on your device. If you are not already signed in, enter your email address to receive a one-time code and log in.

2
Go to your account view

Tap the skinflake avatar in the top right corner of the app to open your account settings.

3
Open Privacy & Data

Inside your account settings, tap Privacy & Data to open the data management sheet.

4
Delete your account

Scroll to the bottom of the Privacy & Data sheet and tap Delete Account. Confirm when prompted. Your account will be permanently deleted.

What Happens When You Delete Your Account

Your account is deactivated and anonymised. Your personal details are removed from our systems, but your user record is retained as an anonymous placeholder so that shared history within your circles (expenses, tasks, fairness points) remains intact for the other members.

Permanently deleted

The following data is hard-deleted from our systems immediately:

  • Your profile photo
  • All active sessions and authentication tokens
  • Your sign-in history
  • Notification preferences and device tokens
  • Any GDPR data export files you previously requested
  • Consent records

Anonymised (record kept, personal details removed)

Your account row is kept in the database as an anonymous anchor for shared records. After deletion:

  • Your email is replaced with an internal anonymous placeholder — it is no longer visible anywhere
  • Your account is permanently deactivated; sign-in is impossible
  • Your display name (first and last name) is retained for historical traceability within circles you were a member of

What Data Is Retained

The following data is retained because it forms part of shared records that other circle members depend on:

Data Reason retained
Circle memberships and activity logs Shared circle history for other members
Task assignments and completion history Fairness records and contribution history for the circle
Fairness and relative points records Contribution history for the circle
Expense records, splits, and settlements Other members' financial history and balance calculations depend on these records
Display name (first and last name) Historical traceability within shared circles
Legal acceptance timestamps (terms & privacy policy versions) Legal record

All retained records are linked to your anonymised account — your email address is no longer associated with any of them.
