Everything you need to know

What is kokuko?
kokuko is a household management app for shared living. It helps groups of people – housemates, families, or any co-living arrangement – coordinate chores, track contributions, and split expenses fairly. Everything is organised around a "circle", a private group that members join by invitation.
What is a circle?
A circle is a private group representing your household. You create a circle, invite your housemates, and everything – tasks, expenses, shared items, and fairness tracking – happens within it. Circles are invite-only, so only people you add can join.
How do I sign in?
kokuko uses passwordless sign-in. Enter your email address and you'll receive a 6-digit one-time code valid for 10 minutes. Enter that code and you're in – no password to remember or forget.
How does the fairness system work?
Every task has a workload value (in minutes), and completing a task earns you that many points. kokuko tracks relative points between all household members so you always have a clear picture of who's carrying more of the load. Turn on fair assignment and tasks are automatically given to whoever currently has the lowest workload score.
Can I track shared expenses?
Yes. Log expenses, choose how to split them (equally, by percentage, or custom amounts), and kokuko keeps a running balance for everyone in the circle. When it's time to settle up, kokuko calculates the minimum number of transfers needed to clear all debts between members.
Is my data private?
Yes. Your email address is never visible to other circle members – the app uses your display name throughout. All data is encrypted in transit and kokuko is designed for compliance with GDPR and Swiss data protection law (revDSG). You can export or delete your account data at any time.
